Battery life is significantly affected by the power consumption and efficiency of the processor, the brain of the PC and also the most demanding silicon component in a mobile system. The VIA C7®-M is designed to enable mobile systems to operate for the longest possible time between charges, allowing users to take in a DVD movie on the train or move between multiple meetings without having to constantly search for the nearest wall socket.
 
Based on the highly efficient VIA CoolStream™ architecture and built using the ultra low power 90nm SOI process, the VIA C7-M processor makes it possible to extend the time between those inconvenient recharges through it's industry leading low power consumption. Additionally, it requires less forced air-cooling from power hungry fans, leaving battery power for more important computing tasks.
The VIA C7-M processor also features VIA PowerSaver™ technology that further reduces power consumption by dynamically adjusting both the frequency and the voltage of the processor based on the requirements of the system. This innovative technology can further reduce power consumption by as much as 50% to ensure seamless mobile operation.

Mobility is further extended when a VIA C7-M processor is combined with a VIA V-Series digital media chipset that incorporates various hardware based digital video and audio enhancing features to extend battery life by reducing the workload on the processor. These include an MPEG-2 decoder, an MPEG-4 accelerator and the highly acclaimed VIA Vinyl Audio for consumer electronics quality entertainment experience.
